Draft letter to the school board
[Today’s date]
Dear Trustees of the Elk Grove school board, Superintendent Hoffman and staff,
My name is ______________ and I have lived in Elk Grove for _____ years.
My child / children attend(s) _________________________ (name(s) of school(s) that your child / children attend(s).)
Thank you for all that you are doing for our schools during this pandemic.
I am opposed to new 4G and 5G cell antennas on City owned light poles near any school.
There are a couple of things the District can do to prevent new cell antennas near schools.
Please adopt a resolution opposing new cell antennas within 1,500′ of a school. Ask the City to cooperate by passing an ordinance prohibiting new cell antennas within 1,500′ of a school. The purpose is to prevent disruption to education. New cell antennas near schools would cause students to use their phones more during school, taking their minds and attention away from their classes.
Finally please intervene with the City on behalf of those schools where a new cell antenna site has been approved: Franklin High, Toby Johnson Middle School, Cosumnes Oaks High and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School. This works. When the District did this for Laguna Creek HS, Monterey Trail HS, and Edward Harris Jr. MS this Summer, you succeeded in causing AT&T to agree to move a cell antenna site across the street farther away from Laguna Creek HS.
Will you be a strong advocate for the health and well being of students and for their education? Will you do this? Please respond.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
[Your name and address]

My name is ______________ and I have lived in Elk Grove for _____ years.

There are a couple of things the City can do to prevent new 4G and 5G cell antennas near schools. Do not approve any more new cell antenna sites within 1,500′ of a school. (MLA sec. 4.2a)
Please pass an ordinance prohibiting new cell antennas within 1,500′ of a school. The purpose is to prevent disruption to education. New cell antennas near schools would cause students to use their phones more during school, taking their minds and attention away from their classes.
Finally please seek AT&T’s and Verizon’s cooperation in withdrawing from their permit applications the approved but not yet permitted new cell antenna sites near schools: Franklin High, Toby Johnson Middle School, Cosumnes Oaks High and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School. This works. At the City’s request this Summer AT&T agreed to move a cell antenna site across the street farther away from Laguna Creek HS.

Thank you.
